Here is a post by Dan Kulp, the Author of "Skips"
We had nothing like this before he added this. Very cool!

I added the Skips because I was looking for a certain effect that I used for Halloween that was a super pain in the neck to implement in HLS. Basically, I wanted a "chase" that would advance only on the beats. In HLS, I ended up doing a TON of copy/paste things to get the effect and it took a lot of time. Here's an example now with the skips in xLights:

More information: if "Fit to Time" is checked, the Speed option for Skips works a bit different. Instead of a raw speed, it's "how many positions to be in during that time slice". If you set it to "1", then they don't move. They are static. If you set it to 4, it moves 3 times (first position + 3 moves = 4 positions). Thus, to do the effect above, it's Size 1, Skip 3, Speed 4, Fit to time. I use Bar timing which is 4 beats per bar so it moves 3 times during the bar.
Hope that helps explain the options for Skip a bit better.
