Projector Centric Show Question(s)
« on: January 21, 2019, 08:16:35 AM »
Hello!  We are looking to potentially switch to Xlights as part of a multi-year switchover to RGB.  Currently running all LOR.  Thinking we would switch to Xlights for both programming and scheduler.   Our show is very video/projector centric; we have to stay on our Windows computer due to the projection mapping software only being Windows/Mac and the horsepower to send a 2048x1536 signal out. Hoping to get a 3072x1536 signal out for this upcoming year's show.

Do you know if xLights can do the following?
- Launch a video on a second monitor attached to the computer?  We have a complicated setup where we are using two video outs that appear (to Windows) as one display for a second/extended desktop. LOR lets you pick which monitor you want to use.
- Launch video full screen vs. windowed?  We run full screen on the extended desktop
- If/when it launches, is there any command window or other pop-up windows that appears?  LOR has an unfortunate command line window that momentarily displays…which we'd like to get rid of.
- Launch a script at the beginning of a song/video/sequence? We are doing this for a 5th projector (ie Python script triggering a video file to play on a Raspberry PI).
- Launch scripts during the song/video/sequence?  Nice to have but not essential.

Our show has evolved to be video centric so hoping Xlights will work.  Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

I don’t see anything there that can’t be done or made to work. Start early you are going to need some advanced and rarely used xschedule features but we are happy to help you work out any wrinkles.
