Timing dclick mode

I am running 2019.12 and when I have Timing dclick mode set to "play timing," things work as I anticipate. Dclicking on it will play the selected timing and if I hold down the shift key and dclick then I will get the edit text for the selected item. But, if I change the dclick mode to "edit text" then dclicking will edit text, but if I hold down the shift key and dclick then it just highlights the timing line for selected timing mark. You can then hit the spacebar to play the selected tag. Is that the way it is supposed to work? I would think that the shift key would toggle between the two modes and not introduce an additional step?

Yeah I could remember how its supposed to work but I did find my old video and the way you describe it is the way it works.  The shift modifier to select a timing range based on the effect size was around way before the lyric functionality.
