Crash on sub-model
« on: June 16, 2019, 07:39:25 PM »
Devs,

Running 2019 29 64bit on a windows 8 machine.

I have a 4x2 P10 matrix running on one BBB/FPP with horizontal halves separated by 4 feet.  I end up with a left 2x2 and a right 2x2.  I am attempting to sub-model so I can place a different effect on each half.

I am calling the two sub-models;  "Left" and "Right" and using the buffer to describe the area.  I can set up either Left or Right and save with no problem; but when I attempt to set up the other area, it crashes.

Further, I can set up both if I reduce the buffered pixel area to something less than a 50/50 split.

Ideas?

Charles

Share files and make a video.

So the crash appears to be video card related. I suggest you ensure your drivers are up to date from your video card vendor.

Keith,

Upgrading video card drivers fixed the crashes.

Now, another problem cropped up.  As you can see in the attached pics, when I divide the matrix into left and right and put a different color "on" effect on each side, it works as expected.

However, if I use the "marquee" effect on each side, I have missing pixels.  Even as I increase the "thickness" of the effect from 1-4 pixels wide, the weirdness follows the extra outlines.

That’s because the way you are setting up the subbuffer it goes off the edge of the model. Have you considered right clicking and letting xlights split the model. Also you could use 2 models rather than one and then use a group when you want them together.

Keith,

The sub-buffer is being generated by the xlights function via calling for 2 vertical slices.  I don't see another place to right click and let xlights split the model.  Where is it?

BTW, the "bars" and "curtain" effects place the correct colors on each side using the "generate" button but the marquee has those missing pixels.

Do you see the missing bars in xlights ... I just tried your model and it seems fine in xlights. Maybe i just dont understand your issue.
