Why would a sequence suddenly "freeze" or lock at the end?
« on: September 23, 2019, 10:05:29 AM »
So I'm checking all my sequences, from start to finish, now that it's getting much closer to Halloween...and I notice that my Beetlejuice sequence doesn't "end" normally. Rather, it suddenly stops right at the end of the music even though there is still sequence left, as in an effect still playing.

I decide to check some other sequences out and almost all of them do the same thing - there are a couple that will run past the end of the music and finish out the final effect and the sequence stops gracefully. But, I've still got many that simply stop, lock, freeze, right after the music finishes.

Is there some bug I'm not aware of? Some setting? Some trick that I did when I set up the sequences that do run past the end of the music? I've attached the Beetlejuice package.

The player stops when it reaches the end of the music.  We allow you to put effects out past the end of the sequence that doesn't mean they get rendered or played.  Its so you don't have to have them perfectly aligned to the end.  You can shorten a sequence duration in settings and it will stop there but if you try to make it longer the music duration becomes king.

Thank you for that response, but that doesn't explain why the sequence freezes, or locks, when it reaches the end of the music. Normally, when I play back a sequence within xLights, no matter if the effect ends first or the music does, the sequence will finish playing and the little red line will go all the way to the end and then disappear, letting me know that the sequence has completed "normally."

Are you saying that this isn't a concern and that I'm noticing a problem that really isn't one? I'm including another Halloween sequence to show the difference - in this one, the little red line moves across the entire sequence then disappears when the sequence completes.

No I wouldn't expect it to freeze I didn't pick up on that part.
