FPP Connect
« on: October 24, 2019, 03:33:13 PM »
I am having some issues with FPP Connect. I am running v2019.60 and FPP 3.4. When I open FPP Connect, it will sometimes detect that I have capes attached to my FPP device but most of the times it does not. I can get it to detect the capes on my FPPs sometimes if I close the FPP Connect and reopen it but it is very sporadic. The bigger problem is in uploading some .FSEQ files. Many times I have to perform the upload several times. I see the .FSEQ file being generated, and then the upload will start and close immediately, sometimes, it will actually have a progress bar but goes very slow, but the file doesn't get uploaded. Will the logs give you information on what is going on and is there a way to generate the sparse .FSEQ file so that it could be uploaded manually?

Yes, wireless. I should have mentioned that.

Have you tried just uploading a file the normal way, not using FPP connect, but from the same computer you are running FPP connect from when you're having performance issues?  Just to rule out networking issues.

Yes I can upload from the FPP file manager, but I do not get the sparse file, that is why I asked if there was someway to create the sparse file so I could manually upload it.

I'm adding some more logging into the FPP connect stuff.   On the Mac, .60c  should have it.   Otherwise, will need to wait for .61.   I'm wondering if it is a connection timeout or similar.

If anyone on a Mac is having issues, please contact me.  I'd like to work with them to figure it out.   I used FPP Connect 4 or 5 times yesterday to get my show uploaded to all 5 FPP instances without a problem.  (was adding some props out in the yard and moving some stuff from one controller to another and such.)    Mine are all WIFI, but it was during the day when all the pixels are "dark" (less interference) and all have very good signals.

I'm having similar issues with FPP Connect, but only on FSEQ files, audio files upload correctly every time.  Performing the upload via the FPP upload page works 100% of the time, so far.  FWIW, I'm using a wireless connection as well.

@Dan Kulp,

I am leaning towards a timeout type issues, but only from FPP Connect and only for .FSEQ files. (Maybe media, but so far that has loaded correctly) The progress bar for the upload pops up but then immediately closes or stalls momentarily without progressing and then closes. It might be nice that if during the FPP Connect upload process that if there were files that did not upload successfully a message box would let the user know. I know the FPP Connect is communicating with the FPP because if I upload UDP data, the FPP instance will have the Reboot flag set.
When you use the MultiSync upload from FPP, it doesn't appear to use the Sparse file format, does it?
Is there a way to create the sparse file in order to do a manual upload?

Dan, I'm running .60d now, though I didn't see issues in .60 or .60c either, and just tested again without issue.  My setup is all wired, no wireless for anything, and running 3.4 (Original install 3.3).  I'm running a mix of BBB F32-B's and one Pi4 as master.

Perhaps stating the obvious - and I think its correct.. you have to be in bridge mode, no output to lights and dont have a schedule running prior to an fpp connect/upload.

You don't have to be in bridge mode

No output to lights, and no schedule was running.
