Polyline setup
« on: October 24, 2019, 07:10:35 PM »
I have defined a roof line using a polyline model.
I would like to split the model into to separate strands to avoid power injection.  This would mean I would use two ports on my controller for this model.
How do I assign two ports for a polyline model?  It seems like Xlights only thinks the polyline will use a single strand (port).

I had a similar situation with my roof line which is rectangular. I tried doing two poly lines but the chase and some of the other effects didn't work well. I wound up biting the bullet and doing 1 line and injecting 3 times. Maybe someone else knows assign two ports to a poly line but I don't.

That's how I've done 7 poly lines.  Made it one line in Xlights and power injected at several locations.  Xlights doesn't care where you put the power. The channel numbers are the key.  The controller on the other hand may care. I use SanDevices controllers, and have 7 "data" lines, each segment is configured seprately.  If you're using SanDevices, I can help you set that up.

If you are using the controller/port features to upload configurations to the controller then you're right you can't use PolyLine.  I just switched my show over this weekend and ran into the same thing and had to switch my PolyLines back to single line models.  If you manually configure your ports in the controller then you can use the PolyLine.  I do have some PolyLines but the rule is one PolyLine per port.
