Null pixels in the middle of a string.
« on: November 23, 2019, 10:50:22 AM »
I need to know how to set up null pixels in the middle of a string.  I think that is possible, but I'm just not sure how to set it up in Xlights.

How to set it up in xlights would depend on where it ends up.
Generally an null pixel is used in between 2 props in which case you would leave three blank channels in between the two models.
Which means you will have to manually enter your start channel. Or you can just make a dummy model to take up however many pixels you use as null pixels.

I'm really just wanting one pixel (the last pixel in the string) to not be a part of the prop and not turn on, just pass the data.  I had to reconfigure my mega tree and I wound up with a total of nine pixels on my mega tree (spread thru out the base of the tree; the last pixel on every third string of 50) that are in between the strips and I don't want them to come on.  I can cut them out and re-solder the strings together, but just trying to avoid that.  I know this sounds confusing, so I'll take a picture in the morning and attach it and that should make it easier to understand what I'm trying to do.

You can't fix that with xLights as far as I know without using a custom model but that kinda ruins all the functionality you could do with the model as far as effects.  With a Falcon you could use virtual strings I believe to handle that situation.

You should be able to use individual start channels for each string and enter only the start channels and universes that you're using avoiding the channels of the pixels that are just hanging loose.
