Xlight Preview different once it hits Display
« on: November 24, 2019, 08:58:03 PM »
I have a mega tree and a few other smaller trees in the display. In the preview I put on snow fall but when I run on display it is total different. Solid colors are fine and some patterns work. It seems hit and miss. Tried looking at addressing but it appears ok.
I also can not use xlights to run test mode.
If I pick whole display it works but if I try t narrow down to one item I get nothing.
Using Falcon 16V3  with the latest firmware update.

Any ideas on where to start. Or why this maybe happening

Here's how I troubleshoot:

1)  Create a brand new blank Animation sequence and add all models.
2)  Turn on output to lights.
3)  Start one model at a time and drop an On effect.
4)  Does the model light up?  If so great move on through all the models.
5)  Model does not light up so check these things:
    a)  Click the model in layout on the left list and see what universe/channel its assigned such as universe 45 channel 31.
    b)  Then open the controller setup page and check the E1.31 setup and make sure universe 45 is configured to be received on that controller.
    c)  Then check the string port setup and make sure the port you have the model connected to is configured to begin at universe 45 channel 31.
    d)  You can also check the status page and make sure you see packet counts increasing for universe 45.

One of those steps should reveal what's wrong.

Created new show folder and animation and only built one tree with 8 channels. I tried 0ne spiral effect it it light up all models on all 16 channels and the effect was different than what I asked for.
I did look at the live date on the web page to the controller and it showed packet on the first 8 channels As I would of expected. Seems to be broadcasting across all channels.

Sounds like your Falcon is not setup right.  Are you manually configuring or uploading it?

I am having a similar issue. Have 8 mini trees set up as 4 each on 2 different channels.  Trees 1-8.  Using a falcon 48.  Trees 1-4 are on channel 4d and 5-8 on channel 3c. 5-8 work as should.  1-4 do not match.  Have checked Falcon setup, the  E1.31 setup and string port setup both are set to start at 12475.  Have compared everything to the tree 5-8 setup and cannot figure it out.  Have not tried starting one model at a time.  Will try that to see what trees 1-4 are actually responding to. But, I  still cannot figure out why when everything looks like it is setup right.

Jump into zoom ... these things get fixed fast there.

Here are screen shots.  The Garage Door Left and Trees 1-4 both do not match what the sequence shows.  Maybe this will help someone see what I am doing wrong.  Have also tried with the Garage door defined as 32:1 and tree 1 as 33:1 but that did not work.  32:1 mapped to 11965 and 33:1 mapped to 12475.  I have never been on Zoom and not sure how that works.

Well I feel stupid.  Swapped two ports on the controller and fixed problem.  So, programming is right.  Guess should have checked the hardware better.
