Possible xSchedule issue or something else?
« on: December 09, 2019, 08:45:23 AM »
I have been encountering an issue when playing my shows with xSchedule, where the sequences appear to lag or drop frames. It is most obvious on my arches where the animation will freeze for a split second and then continue on.

This appears to happen whenever I use Task Scheduler to run xSchedule; however, if I manually stop and restart the show, it will run perfectly fine after that. I updated xLights last week assuming it could be related to the memory leak but it has not corrected the issue. Due to the issue being resolved by just stopping xSchedule and restarting it, I am rather sure it isn't the network or issue with my laptop.

Anyone have any ideas?

I am using a f16v3 with 16 outputs and a BBB for a P5 matrix. Both are controlled by my laptop using E1.31 Unicast.

What firmware do you have on the falcon. Older firmware issues a number of unnecessary packets to the network which can temporarily upset the windows network stack. This is fixable by updating the falcon. There is also a windows side fix but it is more complicated. I implemented the latter fix last night and got rid of all of the occasional stutters from my show.

I am not sure how to get the firmware version, but when accessing the web status of the controller it shows b21 for the designation. If that is not the version, what is the best way to figure it out?

Thank you!

It appears that I have a beta version of 2.21. I imagine it is a good idea to update it considering the issue you mentioned. I will do that at some point over the next few days.

Thank you again for your assistance.

No such luck. The controller appears to update properly, but after pulling the sd card and rebooting it comes up to the ready screen and right when it should be setting the ip address from the 0.0.0.0 to mine, it reboots and continues that cycle over and over without end.

Luckily, I have and can reinstall the previous version I was using, but the latest 2.55 appears to be broken or my controller just won't accept it.

When I reinstalled the older version, it does a step where it appears to be updating registers on the firmware. That step is not happening when I use the latest.

Anyone have a previous version or is there a site that keeps them? Any ideas?
