How can I get an expanding circular wipe?
« on: December 12, 2019, 01:22:12 AM »
I've been playing with all the effects and haven't been able to figure this out.  I have a Whole_House group that includes many lights on my house. And I've been able to figure out how to do something like a wipe from left to right or top to bottom, but what I want is what I call a circle wipe, a small dot that appears in the middle of my house and expands outward in a circle pattern, growing in size to fill my whole house with that color.  Then I want to change to a second color, have it start in the same center location and grow the same way, growing until my whole house is that color.

If you remember those old looney tune cartoons what Porky Pig would say "That's all folks!", it's sort of that type of effect, but in reverse.

Now I was able to get something close, using the effect called shockwave.  The problem with it is that the effect has a large black circle in the center, so instead of turning my house red it shows a "shockwave" red ring...that grows but has a black center, eventually turning the whole house black/off.

The other thing I found was transition settings for the simple "On" effect. That I could almost get what I want (a circle shape growing in size), unfortunately I was not able to get the circle to fill my house.  It would grow but stop at about 50% of the size I needed to cover the whole house.

So can Xlights create this effect? And if so, how can I accomplish it? The final effect, changing from color to color should sort of look like you're traveling through a subway tunnel.

I would look at doing the shockwave with black as your initial color and then the final color as a second one.  You could use layers to improve the look as well

I help with a lot of things but an "expanding circular wipe" is not one of them. :)

I'm not sure how to read your response. Did I not explain myself well? Or is this considered a crazy request? Or perhaps I popular one that people have already asked for.

I'm hoping there's an easy way to accomplish this. I would think a wipe would be one of the first effects to add, and then mine is only a bit different because I want my wipe to start from the center of my house and work outward, instead of starting at the top and moving down or starting on the left and ending on the right.
