Saving xLight clears converted LOR effects
« on: January 13, 2020, 08:01:04 AM »
I've really been having a time getting my LOR sequence converted to xLights. I've dumbed it down to just 3 controllers worth of data and finally got it to line up and work well. Here's what I'm doing and what's happening:
1) I have the three controllers set up in xLights as four 12 channel circles that represent a four color mega tree.
2) The channel assignments in LOR are the same. The timings are in hundredths (0.01)
3)I have a blank xLights sequence with the same media file (a .wav)
4)Tools, Convert, add the .las, Output *.fseq, Map Empty... (Or xLights Crashes) Show Verbose..., Start Conversion.
5)I open the sequence and the LOR effects are all there. Play the sequence and it works.
6)As soon as I hit "save" the LOR effects disappear. If I don't save, and just close xLights, then re-open the effects are still there. If I change anything, or not, as soon as I hit save it's gone.

I thought it might have something to do with the timing tracks, so I went back to LOR and created a 1/2 second track then deleted the hundredths track but I get the same results. I watched a few videos but I don't see anything about this anywhere. Does anyone know what I'm missing? Thanks for listening...

Yeah basically you are using the Convert routine which just creates an FSEQ data file which is mainly only good for converting the file so it can be played its no good for creating a sequence that can be modified in xLights.  In the past you would and still could import it as a data file but most people these days use the Import -> Import Effects dialog and then map your channels from LOR to the xLights models/channels.  I don't keep up with all the videos posted but I'm sure videos.xlights.org has videos that can help.
