Preview Tab
« on: December 08, 2014, 10:24:15 PM »
Hi,

Just started playing around with Xlights/Nutcracker and have come across my first hurdle.
I have set up a megatree with 4800 channels, 4 candy canes each using 48 channels and 4 candles with separate models for the wicks.  The candles use 60 channels for each candle body and 12 channels for each wick.

Under nutcracker I have created 5 rows of timing each being 10 second intervals.  This should be a total of 50 seconds.

The issue I have is when I save and go back to the preview tab,  Every thing appears as it would but only plays for 10 seconds.

What am I missing?

did you create an "animated sequence" ... the last option which does not use music?

the default time length is 10 seconds.

Create a new sequence and provide a longer time.

The brings up one question that I have, how do you change the duration of an animation?

Thanks

press the Save button to write the .xseq file and .xml file.

delete the .xseq file -- important if you are shrinking the sequence time.

create a music file of the length you want -- or edit an existing file to the desired length.  it can be dead silence if you choose, you don't have to listen to it. :)  copy the music file to your xlights working directory.

now, open a sequence again -- but this time select the musical sequence option -- it is the only option that allows you to pick an xml file as input.   pick the music file you created,  then select the *.xml file that you created originally.   press Save.

the new sequence should be the desired length -- defined by the music file, but pulling in the effects and timing defined the the first sequence file.

Thank you all.

The problem is now solved.  I had created an animation sequence.

Thank you for your feedback.
