FALCON DIFFERENTIAL RECIEVER
« on: April 21, 2020, 07:43:45 PM »
I am trying to confirm this setup. I have a F16v3 - I want to use a differential receiver AND DMX in my setup. I am trying to use this without an expansion board. Can I do this with running 3 differential receivers set in ABC just off of the RJ45 port 1 with using port 2/3 for DMX?

Also can someone please explain where the ports on the differential receiver are mapped to? For example, If I have 2 receivers with 8 ports, does that now use up ports 1-8 on the F16? I know that it doesn't add more pixels.. Or does it just use up ports 1-4 pixels and mirror/transfer them to the receivers now?

First,  you can only use one receiver off a F16V3 without an expansion card. It will connect to output port 1. Ther other two ports can be used for DMX.

This is the product manual which might help you https://docs.google.com/document/d/1-ei5l6h9wltfD4pZ0Jox6chTYPKULPf1GhA6VWT-qCA/edit

You have four data sets coming off of that board that can be used for receivers or DMX and if you choose to use DMX you're going to lose at least one of the data sets to run a receiver.
Your receivers would always plug into the top plug but if you configure one of the other ports for DMX you're going to lose output number 2 or 3 on the receiver depending on which one you choose.

When plugging in a receiver to port 1 you can tell the F16 that you have one expansion board (even though you do not).  This is needed in order for the firmware to setup additional ports in the internal database.  I do this and get 20 ports by adding a single receiver (v1 not smart).  You must then also configure those ports in the serial output settings to be pixel data.  I have not tried using one of the ports for DMX but I do believe that you will then get only 3 additional ports and not 4.    I have no clue how your would do this chaining multiple "smart" receivers as I do not own any.
