Possible bug (probably user error!)
« on: April 24, 2020, 09:51:29 PM »
I have a sequence that I was running the Check Sequence routing on and received several error:

ERR: Effect on a model group using a 'Per Model' render buffer is also using a subbuffer. This will not work as you might expect.

Which is odd, because I rarely use the Sub Buffers. But I looked and there were several models that had an oversize buffer. I fixed all of them (I probably missed a few) and re-ran the Check Sequence and I still got the error. I looked at several of the errors identified and I could not see that there was a sub-buffer set?
What did I miss?

I'm not sure what check sequence is finding if I go in and change the render Style to default on one of the offending effects then do a render and Save it disappears off of check sequence.
Then I go back and change it to per model per preview and run check sequence and it's still not there even though I put the settings right back to where they were.
From there I highlighted all of the effects that were acting up and did an update from effect settings in all the errors went away in check sequence for that group.

Thanks for the info!
If I highlight all of the effects and click update, then it changes them to whatever setting were selected in the Effect Settings panel so it will change the chase size and cycles to whatever was selected? It will remove them from the report but now the timings are off. Or did I miss something?

When you use update from the effects setting window it will change everything to the settings that are in that window but it won't change the effect timing.
I tried fixing the mini tree group in this way but it still is showing up in the check sequence.
I had better luck doing a bulk edit of the render Style to something different than per model per preview.

If I select a group of effects, then Bulk Edit them to the Default Render style and save, they fall off the list. If I then go back and Bulk Edit the same effects to Per Model Per Preview, only the first effect (by time if that matters) is not on the list, the rest have returned. I can't find a way to fix them in a bulk format.

Timing was probably a bad choice for terminology. In order to get the bounce to match the music, each effect has a different number of cycles so if the Update is used from the Effects Settings for several effects, then it will throw the "timing" off, meaning the bounces will not match the music.

Just like you I'm confused on where it sees a sub buffer.
I can see why you want to use that render Style.

I have been able to make the errors go away consistently by selecting the effect dragging the buffer window over to the side then double-clicking it to go back to a full buffer and then do a save.
Anything I've tried to do in bulk doesn't seem to work consistently.
