megatree port settings
« on: May 10, 2020, 02:14:29 PM »
Hey All,

Still getting used to this new controller setup but If I'm using an f16v3 with differential receiver boards, would I use ws2811 or DMX as the protocol?  Right now I have it set as WS2811 and then the port that matches what port it is on the diff. receiver board.  I just read on another thread that they used DMX so now I'm wondering, do I use ws2811 and the port # for the 16 ports on the main board and then switch to DMX and the port # on the expansion boards or just keep it ws2811 for all of them?

Also, I have a 36 string megatree but have 6 strands per port.  I can't figure out how to split the total strings up so that I can assign different ports to different strings.

Thanks for any help.

Use ws2811. Dmx is only used for real DNA devices.

To split your tree you need to set the models strong property.

Just to clarify your Tree settings, the terminology get confusing.
Your tree has 36 strands
Your controller is connected to a string
Strands per string is how many times your string will go up and down.
Strings=Port connections.
So in your case, you would have your tree set to 6 strings and 6 strands per string. The # pixels per string will be the number of pixels that is connected to each port (6 strands)

thank you for the help Poporacer.  So I do have my tree defined in layout as you said with 6 strings, 360 nodes/string and 6 strands/string.  Right now the f16 is setup to use ports 25-30 to output to those blocks of 6 from differential receiver cards. I'm just having a hard time figuring out how to select each port for the blocks of 6.  It seems I can only select a port and protocol for the overall model itself. Any ideas?  Thank you again.

It will automatically increment the port for each string.
