E682 test
« on: January 18, 2014, 06:14:05 AM »
I bought one string of WS2811 pixels and am trying to test the E682. I connected the lights to the E682 on plug # 3-1 blue to ground, white to data and red to V+ to see if the patterns that are preset on the E682 would run and the pixels lit faintly one time but that was it. Connected so power was flowing the direction of the arrows on the 2811's. Any one have a hint as to how to test them?
Thanks
Terry

I don't have the manual in front me, but does this socket support the 2811 when it ships from SanDevices? I know he sets up test patterns I just not sure what sockets support what pixels!

You can find the manual here  http://sandevices.com/documents/E682_Operating_Manual.pdf

You may have to change  your wiring positions. Here's a snippet from the manual.

"You MUST know the correct color-code used by your pixel strings. This can and will vary
from manufacturer to manufacturer. Wire color is NOT a reliable indication of function.
If in doubt please contact the pixel vendor for clarification. Incorrectly wiring pixel
strings can and will destroy them. Not only must you identify the function of each wire,
but you must properly identify the START end of the pixel string.

If you are using the black 4-wire waterproof cable assemblies from SanDevices or from Ray
Wu, or pixel strings that have those cables pre-attached, the color code for those cables
is as follows:
RED +V pixel power
GREEN Data
BLUE Clock (not used on 3-wire pixels)
BLACK Ground "

Do not ask to know all the answers, but ask to understand the question.

I think the answer lies in the last part of this snip. If the controller was set up with a test pattern at the factory.
