PixCon16 Setup
« on: June 24, 2020, 02:10:55 AM »
Iam new to the Hobby this year and I bought a pixcon16 not knowing anything about it like I should. Anyways is there a way to configure this board without using LOR Software? Can I just set it up on Xlights. As of now I really do not know if the board is working like it should or not.. Ive done the whole Ipv4 changes etc I simply cannot see this board on my network. I was unaware of things and only have the Basic lor software for 2ids, Pro/Advance is needed.. LOR is  not much help and I cant find any forums that really answer my question. Any help would be great. Remember Iam new so I might not know the correct terminogly.

You can either set it up using the advatek assistant manually or you can push the configuration from xlights. Doing it from xlights is a little tricky because you need to ensure you follow the controller configuration rules. They are more limited in that respect than some other controllers.

Thanks for the response. I tried to use the Advatek assist with no luck. I did want to clarify that this is the Pixcon16 and not the Pixie board, Iam not sure if that would still work or does it make difference. The Push config I will have to read up on so that I know whats going on.

First thing you need to be able to do is bring up the boards configuration webpage in a web browser.  Until you get that working xLights is not going to be able to communicate with the board.  Its more likely you have a network setup issue.  Gotta make sure you have the board on the same subnet.

Pixcon does not have a setup webpage. It is configured using a binary packet. That?s why you need the advatek assistant of the lor rebadging of it.

When you run the assistant be sure to choose the right network card in your machine and then press the search (from memory) button. That sends out a broadcast that finds the controller.

Xlights discover will do the same thing. Sometimes you need to send it multiple times as I find they don?t always respond or respond fast enough.

Ok thanks for clarifying.  I did used to have one of the actual Advatek boards but I just assumed they had created a web interface by now.
