Importing effects - models not available
« on: July 29, 2020, 03:07:03 AM »
I'm trying to import some effects from last years show into a new layout.  When trying to map models to the new layout it only shows about 1/4 of the models I actually have available.  Thereby not letting me import most of the sequences.   Kind of stuck as to why this might be happening.   A saved mapping I created previously (it has worked correctly at least once before) won't work as most of what was mapped is in red now.  I'm stumped and not sure what to try next.  Anyone have any ideas?  I feel like it's something simple I'm overlooking and need a fresh set of eyes.      Thanks!

It should show all the models you have in the currently open sequence.  I don't think it shows all models in your layout.  So do you have all the models available if you look at the sequencer grid before you initiate an import?

Yes. I've double checked that too.  But still only a small portion of my models even show up in the "available" box.

Make sure in the sequencer you are in the master view as only models in the current view can be imported onto.

The Issue I'm having is when I try to import it doesn't list all my models I'm trying to import from.  I know it's something i'm doing wrong but I can't figure out what it is.   I've attached a short video that hopefully helps

What is listed under Available (the right side) *only* shows models that have effects explicitly placed on them.  You dont need to map models that have no effects on them :-)  If they are included in an all house effect, it will just show the all house effect to map over - for example.

and similarly later in your video you pulled up some mapping files and some parts were red on the left. That again means that mapping doesnt apply as there is not XXXXX prop with effects on it, on the right side.
So perhaps you created a mapping for one sequence from a company that used "star1" - well if in another sequence they didnt put effects specifically on "star1" your mapping will show red. Not an error, but a warning.

Oohhhhh that explains everything.  I had it all wrong in my understanding of how it worked.  Thank you so much!
