Is there a detailed install guide to install XLIGHTS on ubuntu anywhere?
I have the PPA Repository installed and updated.

is compiling the only way to get xlights working on ubuntu?

do you think that it must be compiled in linux for the linix distro to work properly, or can it be done in say windows or chromeos.
i have ubuntu one of my chromebooks

am not that good at Linux..been trying, but what I believe, compiling installs the software, and with PPA, it adds it to your source list, then you can download an executable file when new upgrades are available..thats my understanding.

so, ive already installed the PPA,
i just neeed to download the source files from the github and run the compliler?

from what i understand there 2 ways the compiler can be ran. regular (for newbies like me) and developer for those making changes. is that correct?

are you familiar with the AppImage files - if so how are they used?

not really familiar with Appimage, to compile from source, you need to download the source code and install all required libraries, with Appimage,  download the Appimage file, make it executable and run it, compiling takes much longer, and yes there is developer way, its way beyond me...
