LOR to XLights - Invalid LOR Unit id
« on: September 02, 2020, 03:09:51 PM »
I have watched countless videos and been reading and googling and....I am stumped!

I have recreated my whole setup in xlights just like various videos show and I keep getting an error for every channel during the import process
"Warning: Invalid LOR unit id: 0, must be within 1-240"

I have since tried simplifying the whole thing and brought it down to one string of RGB lights finally to a single node and I still can't escape this error.  Any ideas?

Track 1 length = 15988 centiseconds
DMX Network 1:  0 channels
DMX Network 2:  3 channels
Total channels = 3
WARNING: invalid LOR unit id: 0, must be within 1-240
WARNING: channel 'CVert1 1 (R)' is unmapped
WARNING: invalid LOR unit id: 0, must be within 1-240
WARNING: channel 'CVert1 1 (G)' is unmapped
WARNING: invalid LOR unit id: 0, must be within 1-240
WARNING: channel 'CVert1 1 (B)' is unmapped
# of mapped channels with effects=0
# of effects=0
Media file=C:\xlightsBlank\Holiday Haunted Mansion 2013.wav
New # of time periods=3197
Writing Falcon Player sequence
Finished writing new file: C:\xlightsBlank\Test 4.fseq
Finished converting all files

In xlights I have a single E131 universe 2 with 3 channels

So what's your LOR unit setup look like in xLights?  What is the unit id?  Most people do an Import Effects these days not the Convert dialog.

Not sure if this is exactly what you are asking but I removed the LOR components completely out of it in my test setup.  I am going with the baby steps approach and tried to import 1 RGB DMX channel. I attached the LMS file.

I went to Tools\Convert.

I have tried with a few LMS files but still same result.

Tried the Effects.  That seems to be doing what I want.  Little bit of work to map but love that I can save an existing mapping.

Seems that some people who converted whole sequences have pending issues and wished they started from scratch.  Based on that I think I will import just faces, strobes, blinders and leave the rest behind.

Thanks for nudging me in the right direction.

Ok but what did you define in the Setup page for xLights?  I believe for the Convert there must be channels to receive the data.  You could attach the zip from a Package Log Files and it would have the answer I need.  Its possible some of the changes in the past year impacted the Convert Tool import from LOR.  xLights has a ton of features and they don't all get regression tested when changes are implemented so we rely on users to find a lot of these issues.  That source LMS file doesn't even use the LOR network it has DMX channels so not sure why it would complain about needing a unit id.  That's why I suspect either something changed that broke the convert or you didn't have channels defined to receive the data.

I need more info on what you mean by Setup Page.  If you are talking about the controller screen I had a single E131 with 3 channels on Universe 2.

I totally get it and happy to continue to test.  Attached is the log

Yeah the guys probably changed the name.  I still call it the Setup tab like it was named for 6 years.  So your LMS file has the channels defined on universe 1 so why not try that instead of 2?

I am seeing the same error. I am using the same lms files as last year that converted ok then. 122 universes same as last Christmas.

None of the developers are going to be able to do much more than say "bummer" if you don't provide the ZIP file of your setup and the LMS file being imported.  I said a zip from a Package Log Files that did not mean to attach a log file.  Personally I'm kinda done supporting anything related to LOR.  People should choose one program or the other.

I'll do that and put in the bugs area.

I understand where you are coming from. I do new seq w only XL. I have 15 years and over 100 lms seq. I am in my 70's and to start over would be a bridge too far. To make changes with new props to the lms', I've been using XL, lcb, paste to LOR, then back to XL to convert. I suppose I can revert to a 2019 version for convert? Thanks for your work, quite a task.

I was responding to Shaggy who started the post.  He's the one that posted the log file.

I think I have a fix for this. The errors themselves are incorrect. The code itself will convert ok.
