xlights bad on new laptop with UHD/4K screen
« on: December 11, 2014, 03:00:19 PM »
XLights/NC does not render well on my new lenovo laptop. the boxes are out of alignment and I cannot select from the dropdowns.

I have tried to reduce the resolution but windows only seems to be good at the 4K resolution level.

I am sure this is because of the way Xlights is developed and it was not designed to be for a 4K screen. perhaps something to think about in the new 4.0 version with the rewrite.

what is the screen resolution?

In 4.0 this is probably not an issue since every single panel is dock-able, float-able and sizable.

I think if you right click on the icon for the executable and bring up the properties, there is a setting for disabling the display scaling on High DPI screens.  You might want to try that.   In know I had to do that for HLS.

In anycase,  this is likely a wxWidgets issue and I'm not expecting that we can do much about it.

i checked the setting for disabling the display scaling on High DPI screens in the xlights program properties but it didnt seem to have fixed the issue.

anyway now that I am running xlights/NC on my macbook in OSX i think I will stick with that for the rest of this season.

attached of what it looks like.
