Changing File Location of timings iseq file
« on: October 29, 2020, 05:23:27 PM »
I have a new PC (in a panic due to my old PC dying) with SSD and have changed the file location to Standard HD n D:\ The old file were located on C:\ drive. My timing marks were derived from old LightShow Pro .msq files. Even though the timing tracs are showing in the sequence. I am getting an error when rendering.

Unable to load sequence
C:\Lightnimation\Xlights_Nutcracker\Show\carolofthebells.iseq

Can this path be changed somewhere? I don want to place the files on the SSD.

Thanks,

Greg

Timings are not in an iseq file.  Basically an iseq file was a data file with the same format as an fseq file.  You could create data layers that pulled in the data from an iseq file and then merge it with other xLights effects.  I don't think hardly anyone uses them anymore.

The weird thing about this is this appears to be a lost reference as is is not the sequence file name caralofthebells4S.xsq and is located in a completely different location. I can't render r can I save the xsq file without the warning box popping. The reason I thought this was related to the timing was the name of the timing.

This is the latest and only version of Xlights on the new PC.

Well I wrote the code for iseq files for data layers so its not weird to me...lol.  You can go to the Data Layers tab which last I remember was in the Settings dialog and you should find a data layer you can delete which is what holds the reference to that file.

Gil,

I got it. Just in case it referenced 3072 channels I expect that was from my original conversion from LSP to Xlights. I added the new D:\ drive location the file and deleted the old reference to C:\ drive. What is curious for me is that file really needed or do those channels exist in the new xlights file .xsq?

Since I can't see the original effects that were converted from LSP then I am not sure if I can get rid of the data layer file or not without extensive testing of old AC Channels and some RGB stuff.

Can you shed any light on my concern?

BTW Your suggestion on the data layer is exactly what I needed for now to get past the hurdle to relocate that file just in case.

Thank you,

Greg

Gil,

I answered my own question by going thru the sequences. It Matters! I need to have those data layer files.
Looking at House preview did the trick.

Thanks a Million,

Greg

Well it is a layer of data so its just like an effect except you can never change what it does or the number of channels you can only offset the channels so its usually not useful unless you're the type that never changes your show.

Probably never change legacy AC channels in the sequences created in LSP. I'm guessing it is ok to change DMX channels numbers if needed. If that is what you mean by channel offset. I don't use a lot of the advance features yet anyway. So, not sure about channel offsets meaning.

By channel offset I mean you can offset all the channels in the data layer by a fixed amount.  I once used that to overlay the same data layer onto 2 different mega trees.
