Boscoyo Singing Face Issues

 I have a Boscoyo Singing Tree that looks good in the layout, but when I insert it into a sequence is missing half the pixels.  The other issue is I'm unable to change the color.  It only stays white no matter what color I chose for it. 
When I check the sequence this is the error I get.

Find the layer settings for the face effect -- it has a black box in it .. double click on it to reset it.
