LOR - DMX Bridge - No output
« on: November 29, 2020, 07:52:51 PM »
So for several years I used a DIYLEDExpress bridge to drive DMX to my single LOR Controller (old 16 channel AC) with no issues.  I decided to move the DMX to the serial ports one of my F16V2 (blue board) controllers and ran into a mapping issue where the DMX that goes to my 27 channel controllers was one off and also I could not get output to my LOR controller.

After working with it for hours I decided to move the LOR back to the Bridge and keep the node controllers on the F16 - So that solved my issue with channels on the channel controller but I still have no output on the LOR.  I have checked my cables with my network cable tester and it seems to be a ok cable from the bridge. I made a new DMX LOR cross over cable and I think it is testing correctly so I'm truly stumped.  On my LOR controller I have a flashing green light that never goes solid but as I said I've had no issue with this controller for several years and can not remember if flashing is correct or indicated that it is not getting data. The LOR is set to unit #1 but I don't have LOR software any longer so I can not confirm that but unless it happened to change in storage it should still be set the same.   On my bridge I show data being output to the bridge on to the output associated with universe 201 - Also I add and addressed the bridge in the controllers page in xLights and added universe to the FPP e131 page.

For ease of not having to readdress all my controllers I tacked a new universe 201 to the end of my set up and changed the models to reflect this.  I will attach screen shots and would appreciate any thoughts on what might be jacked up. (fairly sure it is a very bonehead mistake on my part but I can't seem to see it or correct.  Thanks

If your Lor controller status light never goes solid green you're not getting a connection from your Bridge.
You need a crossover cable with DMX side pin 1 to Lor side pin 4
And DMX side pin 2 to Lor side pin 5.
Double check that the jumpers on your Bridge are set for DMX not Renard.

Truly stumped-cables test good with tester, pin outs test correct. But controller never get a solid green.  Sadly I don?t have LOR software any longer to see if somehow the channel on the controller got changed but my thinking is that I would get a solid green no matter what the controller was set at.  What should I try next?

Download the software and retrieve your license
Retrieved the software (thank you I did not remember that I could retrieve my license and get the download from the Internet because when I purchased it originally came on a CD)  and using the serial LOR dongle was able to see the unit and confirm unit number and had solid green led light  - when I disconnected from dongle back to flashing green led.

Confirmed that the bridge is set to DMX and confirmed the LOR or crossover cable DMX is plugged into the bridge and the LOR side is plugged into my cat five cable that is plugged into the left-hand CAT5 jack on the front of my LOR.

Also with my network tester I confirmed the pin one and two on the dmx side fire on pin four and five on the LOR side.

Truly perplexed!
