DIYLEDExpress Bridge setup in Xlights 2020
« on: December 20, 2020, 06:56:17 AM »
I've been using Vixen for years, but want to play around and learn Xlights. Been setting up my controllers, but am having trouble setting up the DIYLEDExpress E1.31 Bridge. It's not listed in the vendors, so without the visualizer I'm not sure how I can tell the elements which of the six outputs they are supposed to be assigned to.

The rest of my controller setups were easy (Faclon F48, and multiple E682's). This one has me a bit stumped as I'm unfamiliar with Xlights' concept of controller setup. Haven't been able to find any info relative to this newer version of Xlights and setting up this type of controller.

Thanks for any help.

You would set it up by leaving the vendor blank.
You'll be stuck doing a manual configuration but it should work just fine.

Thank you for the response.

Let me see if I understand; If I named the bridge "Bridge 1" and the element/model (we'll say multiple snowflakes), Snowflake 1, the settings for Snowflake 1 should be as follows;

Start channel; Bridge 1
Controller: Port; 1

Then Snowflake 2 would read;

Start channel; >Snowflake 1:1
Controller: port; 0 (don't modify this as it now knows to follow snowflake 1

etc, etc...

Does this look correct? Am I missing anything?

Your bridge is going to use a different Universe for each port from what I remember.
In your Model start Channel set the universe and start channel for each model to match your connections on the bridge.
So if we have Port one on the bridge starting with Universe one the first model connected to that Port would read #1:1 and the second model that's daisy-chained starting at Channel 65 would read #1:65 .
It's been awhile since I plugged in my bridge and if I recall there weren't very many options for the setup.
Your models that are daisy chain from the first one could be set up to follow the first model by selecting it as end of model under the start channel.

You are correct; the bridge does use a different (and can use multiple) universes per output.

When I setup the controller the start universe was 41. When I manually add a model to the controller on the model page it brings up the name of the controller and then a 1. Mine shows under start channel; "!Bridge 1:1".

Based upon what you've told me, the 1 after the : is the universe #, which seems to always default to a 1 even thought that's not even a universe available on this controller. So I'm guessing I should manually change that to 41 as that is the first universe available on this controller.

Correct, you will manually set up your universe and start Channel.
There are three dots to the far right of the start channel on each model that bring up a box that you can select your universe and start channel.
That box will also allow you to have one model follow the other if they are Daisy chained.
The universe is only going to be available in that box if you have it set up in the controller tab first.
