High Country Lights Setup
« on: January 18, 2014, 03:28:54 PM »
Since my plans won't deviate much from 2013, I will list everything for 2014.

Software: xLights/Nutcracker and LOR
Show player: Desktop PC
Network: E1.31
Hardware: 16 port switch, DMX Bridge, Sandevices E682

My 2014 layout....

Sequence my standard AC channels with LOR then convert them to xLights.  Then, take Nutcracker and sequence my eight pixel trees and a small matrix.  Using xLights show player and scheduler, send all data to 16 port switch.  From there it will go to eight 682's, DMX bridge, and 6804. The 6804 is used to run pixels on donation box.  The DMX bridge will convert up to six universes of standard DMX data.  Universe one will be for the ball tree which has dumb strips.  Universe two and three are for LOR controllers.  This requires a crossover adapter from pins 1 & 2 to 4 & 5.  Universe four will be for the TIR Destiny flood lights.  Universes five and six are spares at the moment.

I should have anywhere between 34-36K channels for 2014.

Would I change anything, yes... a few things.

Sell all of my LOR controllers and go with a true DMX controller like Lynx Express or Minleon Express.  But, how they are used makes it difficult.  In time, they will be changed.  I might take a Raspberry PI and run pixels on the donation box.

Proudly using 10 channels. I ran out of fingers to count with.

your light panel display is a good idea.
do you have any issues with the lights falling out of the hardware cloth?
