Expand sub-models in sequencer
« on: April 09, 2021, 09:52:54 AM »
So, if you have a model and create a sub-model with 8 node ranges. In the sequencer, I can expand the model and see the sub-model and apply effects to that, but it would be nice if you could then double-click and expand the sub-model to see the individual node ranges, and apply effects to just them.

This would cut down on having to make 8 sub-models, then group those, then group your multiple models, etc...

As an example, take a custom 8 spoke spinner model. You would have to sub-model all 8 spokes, then add those to a group. If you have 4 of those custom models, now you create 4 spoke groups, then add those to a group. Whereas if you could simply put the spokes in as 1 sub-model with 8 node ranges in a vertical buffer layout, then you add the 4 custom models to one group and in the sequencer, expand the group, expand one of the models and see your "all spokes" sub-model and expand that to turn on just node-range 4. Should give things a cleaner look when sub-modeling, and will still allow people to do the current way if they'd like.

Are you maybe referring to groups of groups?  xLights does that.  You can drill from a master group to a sub-group to a model to a strand to a node.  You can mix and match how you pretty much want in xLights.
