Long Lasting effects
« on: December 24, 2014, 05:32:34 PM »
Not sure if I should post this here or in FPP since that is my final player but I do all my development in XL/Nutcracker so I thought I would try here first.   After the show is over I would like to leave a few lights on dimly, twinkling, etc. for the rest of the night.  I tried creating a 60 minute animation sequence just for my Mega-Tree (2400 channels) and it seemed find until I tried to save and it never came back.  With the 50ms timing generating a pattern 20 times a second for all those channels the file size would have been ridiculous anyway.  I did a one minute one which I repeat and told it not to turn the lights off at the end but the problem is using FPP the lights turn off for about a half second when it repeats making the whole thing flash.   This annoys my daughter shining through her bedroom window and probably the neighbors.  When I was using Xlights directly I just played and effect and left it there.

What I am thinking is that if there was any way to make a slower timing so I could do a multiple hour sequence or continuous loop that wouldn't have to reload it would be great.  I am open to any suggestions but where the pixel controller is it isn't convenient to cable it to my PC so thinking I need to stay with the FPP.

I have a one minute sequence that turns on the green color on my porch gutters as a sort of night light.  I have two playlists.  One that goes from the end of the show thru 23:59 and another that starts at 00:00 and plays until 6am.  I've never seen any glitches in those lights between the repeat function.  Do you have the first and last option unchecked?

Thanks for responding so fast , on Christmas Eve yet!

Hmm, that is exactly what I was trying to do.  Same playlist schedule.   Yes, I have both boxes unchecked.   Are you using Xlights to play it or FPP?   Maybe it is the twinkle effect I am using, I will try later with a simpler effect when no one is looking at it.

OK, went back and created new effect, nothing fancy, Effect 1, On, Effect 2 off. Entire effect is below.  Seems like a lot, is there a simpler command?  Can I just type it in?  Effect one is a dim purple with a few sparkles.

1,ID_CHECKBOX_LayerMorph=0,ID_SLIDER_SparkleFrequency=171,ID_SLIDER_Brightness=49,ID_SLIDER_Contrast=0,ID_SLIDER_EffectLayerMix=0,E1_SLIDER_Speed=1,E1_TEXTCTRL_Fadein=0.00,E1_TEXTCTRL_Fadeout=0.00,E1_CHECKBOX_FitToTime=1,E1_CHECKBOX_OverlayBkg=1,E1_SLIDER_Eff_On_Red=41,E1_TEXTCTRL_EFF_ON_RED=41,E1_SLIDER_Eff_On_Grn=0,E1_TEXTCTRL_EFF_ON_GRN=0,E1_SLIDER_Eff_On_Blu=79,E1_TEXTCTRL_EFF_ON_BLU=79,E1_BUTTON_Palette1=#FF0000,E1_CHECKBOX_Palette1=0,E1_BUTTON_Palette2=#00FF00,E1_CHECKBOX_Palette2=0,E1_BUTTON_Palette3=#0000FF,E1_CHECKBOX_Palette3=0,E1_BUTTON_Palette4=#FFFF00,E1_CHECKBOX_Palette4=0,E1_BUTTON_Palette5=#FFFFFF,E1_CHECKBOX_Palette5=0,E1_BUTTON_Palette6=#000000,E1_CHECKBOX_Palette6=0,E2_SLIDER_Speed=1,E2_TEXTCTRL_Fadein=0.00,E2_TEXTCTRL_Fadeout=0.00,E2_CHECKBOX_FitToTime=0,E2_CHECKBOX_OverlayBkg=0,E2_BUTTON_Palette1=#FF0000,E2_CHECKBOX_Palette1=1,E2_BUTTON_Palette2=#00FF00,E2_CHECKBOX_Palette2=0,E2_BUTTON_Palette3=#0000FF,E2_CHECKBOX_Palette3=0,E2_BUTTON_Palette4=#FFFF00,E2_CHECKBOX_Palette4=1,E2_BUTTON_Palette5=#FFFFFF,E2_CHECKBOX_Palette5=0,E2_BUTTON_Palette6=#000000,E2_CHECKBOX_Palette6=0

Turn off lights at end is not checked nor are the other LMS boxes when converting to fseq format.  On the FPP First/last not checked. The "flash" is not as obvious now, but it does go dim very quickly at the end of the sequence, i'm thinking like a tenth of a second.   Not the end of the world but would be nice to not have it.
