Holiday Coro mini tree with star
« on: June 19, 2021, 12:36:39 PM »
Has anyone been able to configure a Holiday Coro 42" mini tree with the 20 pixel star using 2 each 100 pixel strings? I am trying to use 85 pixels from each string on the tree, then using 10 pixels from each string on the star. Not sure it is working out. The xLights program does not allow using 100 pixels from the first string, then 70 from the second when creating a new tree.

When I set mine up, I created 2 models, one for the mini tree (85) and one for the star (20).  They can be one string of pixels as far as hardware goes.  You can then create a 'group' with the tree & star if you want to control them together.  I set up 3 groups for mine, one for the trees, one for the stars, and one for the trees & stars as I apply different effects to each

RandyS - thanks for the reply. I'm guessing you are doing a 180 tree, mine will be 360 degrees. Did you add 5 pixels to a 100 pixel string to make up the 105 total? I might have to go to the 180 degree tree to make it work out!

Yes, I did a 180 tree, but the theory would be the same even if you use more pixels.  If you go much over 100, you need to consider power injection also.

if you have 100 pixel strings why not use the first string on the tree (pixel 1 to 100), then the second string on the tree and then star (pixel 101 to 170, then 171 to 190 for the star)?

I have some trees that needed 105 pixels.  I left the 5 center pixels for the star out and used a 100 node string.  Star looks great.  Something to consider.  Just because props have a certain number of holes does not mean you have to use them.  Be creative and think outside the box.
