Batch Render

How hard would it be to change Batch Render to also do a sequence save at the same time?

What would the purpose of that be?.  Batch render goes thru the SAVED sequence files and creates and saves a new FSEQ file.  This is for use when you make changes to your network layout or move prop locations around and that is information that is NOT saved in the sequence file but in the networks and xlights files IIRC.

Sorry I thought if I change anything in the layout tab and Batch render and then go back and load one of the sequences it wouldn't be up to date

It would render yes .. that is what batch render does for you .. What it wont do - and that save would be nice - is allow you to fix things that might be broken during the batch render, like misnamed models, missing music, etc.
All you can do in that scenario is set it to ignore these broken items via preferences and go back and find them later.

I just ran batch render last night because in setting up I had changed some port connections and I needed to get a good fseq to upload.  However, a couple of the sequences had not been touched since last March and I had renamed a model and forgot about it.  When those couple sequences came up I just hit cancel.  After the batch render I went back and fixed the name in each of those that had errors.  After that all was well, but I did have to fix each sequence with the error.  The error was caused just because I shortened the name to leave off the vendor name on the prop.  sigh.

I don't remember all the arguments about what Batch Render should do but I know I was against the program automatically trying to make decisions and save your sequences without user interaction.  It would inevitably be sometimes making the wrong decision messing things up and people going ballistic.  Seems like for simple things like a model rename there could be a command to batch rename the model...maybe that's been added and I didn't see it.  Users could easily write a Python script that would do the same thing.  Only takes one person to write it and share with others.

A model rename is automatically propogated within the xlights_rgb.xml.  But for a sequence that is already completed and saved it has to be done for each sequence by opening, fixing, and saving.
