text and other display graphics overlap.
« on: December 13, 2021, 12:10:46 PM »
This might sound a bit crazy but my text messages that scroll across a matrix also have the same message scroll across the matrix in the opposite direction.  no indication on the preview, but on the actual matrix you can see it.  this is a custom matrix of 2812 bullets mounted on a pre-fab sheet.

Update:

the matrix is a 1200 pixel custom in defined in layout.

I went to a simple 1 letter text message...If I scroll the message left of right I get what appears to be the same letter moving in the opposite direction and overlaid the desired text .  If the letter is scrolled up or no movement:  no problem!

I killed the text effect and added it back in.... no change.

I ran the same text message on a smaller standard matrix ... works fine.  I'll continue to explore the larger custom matrix.

custom matrix layout: Why? 'cause it was easier to use existing physical models from last year.

Having trouble seeing your custom model layout -- but if you zig-saged you will likely need to reverse those rows number wise.

tried to send the custom layout again.

BTW: I'm using a SanDevices E680.  I've been testing several configurations.  no movement works, Wavy works, up works, but left or right don't.  I don't think I have to REVERSE rows with a custom layout, I just have to describe the matrix channel numbers.

I tried different fonts, different sizes, Xlights fixed fonts.... same results.

The fact that you say it looks fine in xLights rules out a lot of the possible reasons.  It has to be a mismatch between how the model and its universes/channels are defined in xlights vs the controller.  If it was a problem in xLights it would show up in the xlights preview.

I'd almost say forget the Text effect for now what about a Butterfly that covers the entire matrix.  Does that look correct?

Gil Thanks for the suggestion.  That helped me identify what the issue was...... good job, as always!!

I think it's fixed but the light in ABQ is a bit bright and I won't know until tomorrow morning when I can focus on the display.

Happy Holidays
