Problems Starting Xlights

Hi All.

I have been using Xlights for several months now without any problems whatsoever.

Today I tried to launch Xlights and it just wont start. The Xlights logo appears then just disappears and then nothing, Its the same with the Xlights Scanner and the Scheduler.

Has anyone come across this. I've never had it before and I need to get loads of sequencing done.
Any help would be very much appreciated.

First thought is to check the log files in C:\Users\"yourname"\AppData\Roaming and see if they point out the error.

Second thought is to download latest version and install again. Install to a new location first and start with an empty show directory. If that works, you can try changing the directory to your existing show folder. If that works, delete that install and do upgrade of the existing install.

Third thought is that somehow your configuration is corrupt.

Are you getting any errors?

I just had that same problem.  I had taken my old desktop and formatted the drive to get a clean new install as that old desktop was over 10 yrs old and had accumulated a lot of junk stuff that I tried and abandoned along with starting as a win7 machine and then getting upgraded to win10 and years of upgrades.  Anyway, got windows running good installed xlights and got exactly the same symptoms as the OP.  The solution was to install/reinstall the Visual C++ software and voila all is well.

The xLights installer should prompt you to install the VC++ Distributable....don't say no to that question.

Thank you for your replies.

In answer to some of your questions.

There are no errors showing. The  Visual ++ software is installing without issue.

All I get is the Xlights logo flash up for a millisecond, then nothing. It just wont load /open.

I am using Windows on a Gaming PC that is only a few months old and the spec is way higher than Xlights needs, plus ive never had any problem until version 2024.11 came out, then n ot been able to use versions 11,12,13 or 14. Version 2024.10 works fine. HELP!!! Please

I deleted the Microsoft Visual C++ 20xx installs, reinstalled Xlights 2024.14 and rebooted and it worked. Unfortunatly it deleted my user dictionary and phonemes that were in Dutch. But all other settings in showfolder are saved.
