totally new to all this need help
« on: February 02, 2015, 03:30:41 PM »
Hi all , Ive been using dumb rgb nodes running through LOR S3 for the last 2 years. the output has been as follows :
computer -- LOR usb485b --- 2 x LOR CMB16D-QC (running12v)
                -- USB cable  --- Enttec USB Pro DMX --- 2 x 27channel dmx Boards(from Ray Wu)
now I want to move  into pixels ive no idea what hardware I need to talk to the pixels except for the final board which is being built at the moment a Sandevice E682.
I have at the moment to play with and get some ideas 150 ws2811 square pixels and a small board capable of running them that I got from ebay...

I know how to connect it up to except DMX signal and run the pixels but how would I go about connecting this board to work with xlights  for the moment as if it works ok then I would like to use it on a small stand alone part of my display ,seeing its capable of running 1 universe that gives me enough pixels for this part of the display.
I just want to start trying out idea using this board so when my E682 turns up im not struggling and will have the basics down.
Any help would be gratefully recieved , I've asked else where and not had any replies  :(

What type of input is that board capable of?  I can't tell what type of board that is and I don't think you identified it so your not likely to get much help with it.  I personally think you would be better off just waiting for the e682 to arrive.  Then you will be outputting E1.31 data from your PC over a normal ethernet cable that plugs directly into the e682.  Work on writing sequences and play them back in preview until you get the board.

using the enttec Pro you will need to hook it up like this photo pin 3 is data plus and pin 2 is data neg then you have to make sure your address on the board matches the address in LOR, Xlights or what ever sequencer you are using. hope this helps.
