Xlights Setup / Re: Xlights as a basic live show controller.
« on: December 03, 2021, 07:31:23 AM »
This is definitely something you can do but it is pretty basic. It's still time-based, however, it may work for you. It's a feature called Jukebox. You can open Jukebox you click View>Windows>Jukebox.

Each button you set up with a specific effect and you can easily switch between them.

Here's a short video explaining how to use it and set it up: https://videos.xlights.org/jukebox-feature_09c397b15.html

Falcon Pi Player / Creating a playlist and xSchedule and play on FPP
« on: November 28, 2021, 03:45:41 PM »
I'm not sure if it's possible but I am curious. Is it possible to create a playlist in xSchedule and export it to FPP? The reason I'm asking is because my display is in a park and it's a 15 minute drive to make any kind of adjustments or schedule changes. It's just an inconvenience with the drive. It would be really nice to create a playlist and/or schedule from home and simply upload it with the rest of the sequences.

Nutcracker Effects / Re: Unable to Import Video
« on: October 02, 2021, 07:37:28 AM »
I've tried converting with Handbrake, no luck there. Again, tried different file types (MP4 and MKV). 480 and 720 res. Nothing seems to be working.

I think I'll try to find the original source of the video and redownload it- maybe there's something wrong with the original file?

Nutcracker Effects / Unable to Import Video
« on: October 01, 2021, 11:12:13 AM »
I've been having an issue trying to import a video into a sequence. This isn't the first video I've used but there's one specific video file that just will not render. I added the video effect into the sequence and I can select pretty much any known-good video file and it'll work just fine. As soon as I try to select this specific video it will not render.

I've tried converting the video to a different format (tried MP4 and MOV). I've tried converting it to a lower res (480), and I get nothing. Any ideas about what's going on with this file?

Enhancement Requests / Re: House Preview in xSchedule

Yes. Because it is a stupid idea. The one thing you don't want is your show player lagging because it is doing unnecessary work.

Looking back at this, I would say it would be a waste of time to add the visualizer in xSchedule. Running the songs in a playlist on Spotify did exactly what I needed. As far as computer resources, personally, my PC and laptop could handle it but many show computers (for running the display) have basic setups that wouldn't be able to handle the extra workload.

Xlights Setup / Re: Visualize and Port Control Per String

I just saw the video this morning. I haven't had a chance to watch it yet. I'll watch it when I get off work tonight.

Xlights Setup / Visualize and Port Control Per String
« on: March 18, 2020, 12:10:30 AM »
Hello All,

With the recent update in xLights switching from Setup to Controller- I was a little uneasy at first, but I'm starting to like it. I do have one issue though, any of the props that use more than 1 string are sort of a mess when it comes to assigning ports. Here are some examples (across different displays, all with similar issues):

1. I have pixel trees that use multiple controllers. I can set each controller up to run the number of strings (by assigning only enough channels used for those strings) but the visualizer doesn't seem to assign the ports correctly and I can only see the first and last controllers in the visualizer, the other controllers show nothing (except Models in the controller setup).

2. I have a few props, such as a C9 roofline, that I have set up as a single line in xLights, that are spread across 2 outputs on separate controllers. The number of pixels on each string is different (one with 100, the other with 117). I can add the single line on one controller (showing one 2 outputs), but not across two separate controllers.

3. I know we can change the number of strings per model, but can we change the nodes per individual string? In my example above I have 100 pixels on one string and 117 on the second, in xLights I only have the option to change the nodes for both strings. I could add 2 separate stings in xLights but that makes sequencing a little challenging with certain effects (that's how I've had it set up in the past but I prefer to have a single string).

I guess my point is, I wish we had the option to place both strings and models rather than just models. This way when a single prop uses multiple strings, we can decide which controller and output each string is assigned to. Hopefully, that makes sense. I realize this could be a potential issue because you'd have to assign different outputs for each string, but it'd make my life a lot easier lol

Is this something that has already been planed or a new request? I like the new controller tab, just wish it was a little more versatile.

I'm having the same issue.

Xlights Setup / Re: Controller Setup

Update: I checked the start channels for each string and the updated changed everything past string 30 to #30:1 or #30:241.

I've corrected the start channels, and controllers 1 and 4 are corrected but I get nothing with controllers 2 and 3. I've uploaded some photos to see what I mean. Am I missing something?

Xlights Setup / Controller Setup
« on: February 24, 2020, 08:43:19 AM »
Since the new Controller setup tab, I've been "converting" all of my props to this setup. It seems pretty straight forward to me, however, I have ran into 1 issue.

My pixel tree uses 4 F16V3 controllers- each with 1 expansion board. I have it set up correctly in the controller tab, however, when I visualize the controller, I'm not seeing the correct setup. On the first controller, I get strings 1-30 on outputs 1-30 (this is correct). On my second controller, I get strings 31-120 on outputs 1-90. How can I edit this to reflect correctly? I have 30 strings per controller.

Enhancement Requests / House Preview in xSchedule
« on: November 05, 2019, 08:44:43 PM »
I'd really love to be able to have the option to open the house preview in xSchedule. It'd be handy to make sure run times are exactly how I want them and that each song blends smoothly into the next. It'd be a virtual preview of the entire display instead of a single song.

Xlights Setup / Re: Display Elements

I just realized I can create a different view and it will keep my "organized" display elements, it only took me 4 years of using the software to figure that little tidbit out haha

Xlights Setup / Display Elements
« on: September 24, 2018, 08:24:16 PM »
I have a question about something that xLights has always done but isn't a HUGE deal. When starting a new sequence, it seems like all of my display elements are sorted randomly. I've tried to do a little digging and there doesn't seem to be a reason why it added the elements in the order it does and there doesn't seem to be a way to fix it- at least not a way that I have found. Of course, I go in and rearrange them and everything is fine but I'm just curious why it does this and if there is a way to change it (say to sort them alphabetically or by start channel).

My Show Setup / Halloween Music
« on: September 14, 2018, 03:58:40 PM »
Hello everyone, I'm throwing together a last minute Halloween display- nothing huge, just something to sort of test out the hardware and to have something fun for Halloween night. But I'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations for Halloween music. It's been awhile since I've sequenced a Halloween display and I want to see what others have used in their displays. I'm open to all "types" of Halloween music, just seeing what's out there.
