Did you double check your channels? I had this happen a few weeks back and I have put the starting channel 1 number off and it had the entire string displaying incorrect colors

Where do you live KAS?  My boxes get so hot I need the vents even when they aren't powered up...lol.
I run most of mine in central Florida with out ventilation. On the few hot muggy nights we get that time of year they get warm, but not hot

Do You Need Help? Post it here / Re: In over my head...
« on: July 17, 2018, 12:02:07 AM »
Thank you!!  I think I'll stick to the 12V to start.  I have another question.  The Pixel lights I have are 4 wire Black -  Red+  But Green and yellow are D0+  and D0-.  Can someone tell me which one is the clock and which is Data?
Thanks again
KAS
You need to look at the chip on the pixel, if it’s not clear a drop of water will clear it up. Don’t assume the red wire is positive. All pixel lights are different. They will be labeled on the chip

I do that all the time on facebook.  Its like my fingers don't perform the instructions I'm thinking.

Big fingers, small letter on phone

That's how I started.  I just wanted 1 pixel tree and some arches.  The problem is you start wanting to do effects that color sweep across the house and the best way is to distribute a lot of pixel elements across the display.  Its taken a few years but I've almost phased out all my A/C led strings.  Luckily I was only 2 years into my LOR setup when I started transitioning so it wasn't hard to let go.

I'm kind of an old school lights person, i don't use any strips. Only bullets or bulbs. I honestly can see myself doing away with all the AC stuff. I've got a guitar playing Christmas tree that I just pretty certain I wouldn't like it made of pixels

here is my updated drawings and a pix of the wheel so far.

Looking good, like the details with the cross beams on the arms. I'm going to be starting a 10 foot pvc build here soon. Should have been tomorrow but delivery company screwed up he delivery of my new shed, so I still have a garage full of display stuff. As soon as my workshop is empty I will be starting on it.
Looking forward to more updates

I like the idea for the Ferris Wheel. so I knocked off some drawings for myself. I will have limited space so I down sized it to 5 feet tall.   I'm looking at 2 different sets of lights from Ray Wu.

    4m DC5v WS2812B LED pixel strip, IP68. 60pcs WS2812B/M with 60pixels:white PCB in silicon tube.

    4m DC5v WS2812B LED pixel strip, IP65. 60pcs WS2812B/M with 60pixels:black PCB in silicon coating.

Both with LEDs every 5/8 inch. on my drawing each spoke will have 38 leds and between spokes 26 (outer ring)
that's works out to 740 leds or 2 outputs on a Falcon receiver board.  You could also add another 128 (64 leds per leg) for that added touch.

The only thing I have to work out is hiding the wires. Grooving out the back of the spokes? Mine will be made out of wood as I get all the scrap I want.

Personally that's a lot of spokes and seats for a 5 foot Ferris wheel.

Great thread as I was having the same issue, just wish I would have known this info about a week ago before I made the layout.

Gil, so what your saying is any lines I'm drawing be it house outline, yard outline ect, draw them from left to right and then set it for left to right?

Where would you like us to post new models we create?  I'm sure one specific place would be easier than several different threads/forums/Facebook.

I really don't like sharing models.  I like to create my own.  The first time I used a shared model it had a mistake that caused me to cut and splice a pixel up on the roof and wasted my time.

Not every single person that uses this program is as skilled and on a computer as the guys writing the code. I will openly admit I'm stumbling through figuring out how to make this program work right now because I had poor results and bad lag on my show running LOR this past year. I was just looking for a holiday Coro singing tree and single strand snowflake to use.

Did this ever get added? I was looking for where the models were shared, but having problems finding them

Xlights Tutorials:

Haven't watched these, but you might find them beneficial, this is part #1:

I would just watch a few and get the idea.  The most beneficial thing you can do is practice.  Open the software and get familiar with it.  What's better about xlights than LOR, is that xlights is based on models, not channels.  So, start playing around and sequencing.  You can always make changes later and xlights will scale automatically.  With LOR, good luck with that.

James
Thanks,
That was a major issue this year. I planned out and started sequencing last December for this year. Then in February we made the decision to move. What a B#tch getting the pixel editor stuff to work on the new house so that sounds great that you can make changes and it adjusts. Awesome

General hardware / Re: Which Pixel Controller is Best?
« on: December 31, 2016, 08:48:00 PM »
While you two are going back and forth I thought I would mention I don't think many people would recommend the AlphaPix.  I own one and I don't think I would ever recommend it.

I'm curious why?  I would always recommend the Falcon over the Alphapix, but the 6 Alphapix controllers I'm using, the 4 my friend Mark B is using, the handful my friend NJ are using, plus the several my friend Fabio uses personally and in professional installations have been rock solid.  Remember, I also have Falcon and Pixlite boards and Falcon are my favorite, but I'll always be fond of how easy the Alphapix is to set up and deploy.
maybe it's because I got the first run of not ready for primetime controllers and I was immediately disappointed with the lack of features that it had. Number one complaint can only change the color order for the whole controller not per output.  only two options for color output RGB or BGR. I tried running 200 pixels off one port and the controller couldn't keep up with fast-moving items. ( I split them in half and it works). Then there's the whole problem that everyone had with random pixels flickering.  and the controller is sensitive to set up, God forbid you set up 512 channels. These are all problems that I didn't have with the PixLite controller that Dave sold just before this. I now refer to it as my BetaPix board.

I run 7 sandevices boards and never had any firmware issues. A lot of the problems people were having this year was the beta version 5 firmware where he was trying to update and tie in some of the falcon features.
But I am planning on picking up a F16 v3 this spring.
I've never had an alphapix and I won't, won't have the hinkspix either. Refuse to do business with holiday Coro.
