Nutcracker Effects / How to create an ON + shimmer with multiple colors
« on: October 28, 2020, 10:43:10 AM »
Hello all,

I'm trying to generate an effect similar to the Shimmer option in the ON effect, however using mutiple colors in the model.  So for example, in a single line model, I'd like the pixels to alternate orange/purple/orange/purple all the way down the string, and flash quickly like the ON Shimmer option.  Ideally the solution should work with 2+ colors, where the color pattern simply repeats all the way down the string, and flashes.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts!!

Bugs in xLights/Nutcracker / Re: FPP Connect
« on: October 25, 2019, 07:15:39 AM »
I'm having similar issues with FPP Connect, but only on FSEQ files, audio files upload correctly every time.  Performing the upload via the FPP upload page works 100% of the time, so far.  FWIW, I'm using a wireless connection as well.

Not sure what info you can use...

FPP Connect is successfully uploading media files, but not uploading selected .fseq files.  The dialog box flashes by too quickly to read.  Perhaps an enhancement to have the FPP Connect dialog contain a textbox that contains messages from the entire process vs. individual dialogs that disappear immediately.

FWIW, when I upload them via the FPP interface, they upload fine.

Thanks,

Lights / Re: Output to lights not working with FPP Proxy
« on: October 24, 2019, 11:54:31 AM »
On the setup tab, there are 2 entries for the F48.  One entry is for universe 1 with 80 channels for the LOR controllers connected, the second entry is starts at Universe 10 (I don't remember how many universes, not at home right now).

In both entries, the IP address is 192.168.2.32 (the eth0 for the F48), and the FPP Proxy address is 192.168.1.16, (the wlan0 address for the FPP).

Do You Need Help? Post it here / Re: Lor controller setting Layout Tab
« on: October 23, 2019, 12:46:15 PM »
I've got an LOR controller running off an F48, and yes, the Controller port should be the serial port on the Falcon controller the LOR is connected to, the protocol should be DMX, and the channel should be the appropriate DMX channel.  For LOR ID 1, the DMX channel would be 1-16, LOR ID 2 would be for DMX channels 17-32, etc.

LOR has a DMX document http://www1.lightorama.com/Documents/DMX-DOC.pdf that maps the controller IDs to the starting addresses

I just realized the above description is a lot to take in, so attaching a network overview jpeg.  Should I be able to turn on the Output to Lights in xLights and control the F48 through the FPP proxy, or am I missing something?

I'm not 100% sure I followed this.  My setup is sounds the same, but I cannot seem to control lights from xLights via the proxy, but maybe I'm misunderstaning the original post.

I have an FPP running v3.2-25a2c0a, and an F48v3 running v2.52.

The FPP is connected to my home network via WiFi on 192.168.1.16.  That's perhaps an over-simplification.  My broadband gateway has a wireless network on 192.168.1.x.  My home network connects to the gateway via ethernet through a WRT-54g, with a internal network of 10.x.x.x.  However, I can bring up the FPP interface on 192.168.1.16 with no issues.

The show network is on 192.168.2.x
The FPP's ethernet address is 192.168.2.16.
There is an F48v3 on address 192.168.2.32.

When I use xLights to update the F48 via the proxy from my desktop (10.x.x.x > 192.168.1.16 > 162.168.2.32), all works well and changes get updated.
When I put the FPP in Bridge mode, enable Output to Lights in xLights and run a sequence, I see nothing on the lights.

Am I misunderstanding the abailities of the proxy setup?  Should I be able to control my lights via xLights through the FPP as a proxy?  If I connect my laptop physically to the ethernet show network, xLights can control the lights just fine.

Thanks in advance!!

Yeah, I think I figured out that I haven't got it all figured out!!  :-[ :-[ :-[

When all is said and done, my controllers will be on a separate network from my home network.  The FPP eth0 will be on the controller network, and the wlan0 will be on my home network.

I've apparently been watching too many videos too late at night.  I was thinking in order to control the pixels from my computer for testing, I should see entries on the Input tab & Output tab, thinking the FPP would listen on the Input and route the data to the Output.

A light finally clicked on and I realized that Input was only for pixels directly attached to the FPP, like with an BBB/Octoscroller.

Thanks for everyone's patience with my bumbling beginnings.

Thanks.  I tried setting the 'UDP Output' settings to 'All' and there was no change after the update.  So, I updated the network entries to add the FPP's IP address as 'FPP Proxy', then set the 'UDP Output' to 'Proxied', and still no change after the update.  So, switched teh 'UDP Output' to All, and again no change after the update.  Input Channels is empty, Pixel Overlay Models has entries for every model in the layout. :(

Now, I have not put the actual F48 on the network and updated that.  Is updating the actual controllers a prerequisite to running the FPP Connect?

When I run the FPP Connect to update the Raspberry Pi, I don't see anything defined on the Input Channels, but I see entries for all my models in the Pixel Overlay Models page.  The videos I've seen show that I should be getting Input Channels.  I'm sure it's something I've configured incorrectly, but I can't figure out what it is.  Any thoughts?

Xlights Setup / Re: How to configure model to use F48 DMX channels
« on: August 07, 2019, 08:29:03 PM »
Very good.  Another question (sorry):  When I update the FPP via FPP Connect, I am expecting to see 2 entries in the Channel Inputs/E1.31 Bridge page, one for universes 1-4 going to 192.168.2.32, and a second for universe 100 also going to 192.168.2.32.  Instead, that page is empty, and all of my models are defined on the Pixel Overlay Models page.  Is that expected?  If not, where would be the best place to start looking to figure out how I misconfigured things?

FWIW, FPP is running on a Raspberry Pi 3B+, FPP v2.7.2.

Hmmm, ok.  If I want universes 1-4 to be pixels, and universe 100 to be my LOR stuff, all running off the same F48, what would be the best way to define that on the Setup tab?

Can I define 1 E131 unicast network for universes 1-4 on IP address 192.168.2.32, then a second E131 unicast network for universe 100 also on IP address 192.168.2.32, or will xLights not like have 2 separate definitions pointed to the same IP address?

Xlights Setup / Re: How to configure model to use F48 DMX channels

Ok.  In the model Controller Connect section, Port = the DMX port on the F48, Protocol = "DMX", and "dmx Channel" = the LOR channel, using the LOR to DMX mapping (LOR ID 1 = DMX channels 1-16, LOR ID 2 = DMX channels 17-32, etc), correct?

For the Setup tab, lets assume I'm using Universes 1-96 for the pixel ports, and Universe 500 for the LOR stuff.  Can I put 2 controller entries the point to the same IP address, or do I need switch up to use port 97 for the DMX stuff and only have a single entry for that IP address?

Xlights Setup / How to configure model to use F48 DMX channels
« on: July 29, 2019, 09:46:03 AM »
I have several LOR controllers that will be daisy chained off one of the F48 DMX ports.  Using 2019.36, what is the correct way to configure the setup and models to use those devices?  I can't seem to find anything in the manual or videos that cover that type of setup.

Thanks,

Hello all,

I've slogged through 10-12 hours of Youtube videos & trolling the xLights & FalconChristmas forums, but can't find an answer for this...

I'm planning on migrating my show this year from all LOR controllers/software to 1 F48 + 5 LOR CTB16 AC controllers & xLights.  The LOR controllers will be daisy chained off one of the F48 serial ports. Fortunately it seems, my OCD helped prep me for this as my LOR controllers are all numbered sequentially and there are no missing channels in the sequences.  ;D

I'm running xLights 2019.35.  I defined a single E131 controller on Universe 97 with 80 channels on address 192.168.1.33 proxyed via 192.168.1.32 (the FPP master).  I also added a NULL contoller for a P10 panel I'll be building this year.  I've successfully defined my models in xlights on #97:1 - #97:80, and imported a couple of sequences and they play correctly in the xLights sequence tab.

I've received my new Raspberry Pi & Falcon controllers, and successfully installed FPP 2.7.2 on the Pi.  As a test, to ensure I was actually understanding everything, I tried updating just the models on the FPP via xLights' "FPP Connect".  I expected the models to all show up in the FPP Channel Output E131 page, but there was nothing there.  I've run the FPP Connect several times, and nothing shows up in the Output Channels.

I started looking through the fppd log, and noticed many messages like the following

2019-07-19 23:43:12 (5849) PixelOverlay.cpp:713:Initializing Channel Memory Map Pixel Map 'BB1'
2019-07-19 23:43:12 (5849) PixelOverlay.cpp:719:Invalid config for 'BB1' Memory Map Block

So, I checked the Pixel Overlay Models, and sure enough I do see all my models defined, and on the Start Channel I expect them on.

What I don't understand is why they are showing up in the Overlay page and not showing up on the E131 Output list.

I thought it had to do with there being nothing in the "Controller Connection" section of the models, so I updated one of the model's settings to Port:1, Protocol: DMX, dmx Channel: 1, and reran the FPP Connect, but to no avail.  Everything is still in the Pixel Overlay section on FPP, and nothing in the Output Channels.

Attached are the images as xLights & FPP are configured after the last "FPP Connect"

Any hints you could pass my way will be much appreciated!!

Thanks,
