Old school LORer looking for sanity check
« on: May 20, 2015, 10:35:47 AM »
So, back in 2006, I got into this crazy hobby and started off with LOR.  I added one or two new sequences per year and by 2010 I had six sequences that I did from scratch using the old grid method with the tapper wizard (one "channel has a 0.1 second block turned on as my marking point to suggest where I should place an effect in the channels below).  2012 we moved and I used that as a break point to get going with pixels and RGB.  At this point (2015), pretty much the entire display has been converted to pixels (only thing left is my old merry Christmas sign).. I have been trying to use LSP the last couple of years unsuccessfully (ok, successfully, but not enough to make me as happy as I was back in the LOR days) and now I am an xlights/nc user.

Question:  can I import the six old sequences (old school grid lms files) so that I can have access to all the timings I tapped out?  I just need to see them, don't need to edit them.  Those tap marks don't light a light, they just show me where I need to light a light... Kind of like a modern day timing mark...

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Louie

I never successfully used LSP, but otherwise similar software and path.

I'm going to have to watch it several times, but DKulp has a very thorough Import tutorial posted in this "Do You Need Help" forum.

Watch it once. Take a break. Watch it again. Take a Nap. It will really make sense on the 3rd run through.

Thanks Jon.  Ok, I watched it once and the first question I have is, what if the things I'm importing from LOR don't exist in xlights, or do they need to?  I'm really only looking to get that one dummy channel that has all the marking blips.

It seemed to me that dkulp was importing elements that directly tied into elements/models he had setup in xlights.

Thanks again,

Louie
