Turn on a single DMX channel on my fogger.
« on: November 01, 2015, 06:14:58 AM »
I ran into some strange problems with xlights 4.2.18 yesterday and had to revert back to creating a sequence in xlights 3. While my overall setup is rather complex, here is the jist of what I was trying to do. I'm sure the reason I'm having a problem is I'm still new with xlights 4 for sequencing and don't fully understand the logic.

My setup is Pi (I have a master and two BBB remotes that have p10 panels on them) to FPD to a F16hub (pixel net in/out) to a DLA active hub (pixelnet in, dmx out) to a Ray 27 controller to a DLA lynx express to a Chauvet 1800 fogger.

In xlights 3 I have always done a color wash red to fire my fogger in the past and last night had to create a xseq to do the same thing because for some reason I couldn't figure out why my xlights 4 sequence wasn't working.

I have attached a couple of sequences. One for twightlite zone where the fogger works with my colorwash effect  and one called spooky-fog where the fogger does not work.

Can anyone tell by simply looking at the sequences what the heck I was doing wrong? I've also included the rgbeffects and networks xml files. If I need to post up anything else let me know.

thanx!
Ryan

Just saw this one. Does this "fix" my issue?

It's a new feature it doesn't fix anything.

Ok. I'm going to do a few things hopefully this weekend. First is to try to figure out the movie issue I was having with the framerate not working and see if I can figure out why I couldn't turn on a single channel. I saw the screens that Sean posted for the dmx channel setting so now I see it sets a range of values.
I also will crank open the Xml files I posted and see if I see anything for the issue I originally posted.

So I looked at the Spooky Fog file real quick.  I think the problem is for some reason you defined the Fogger model as Single Channel Custom with "Yellow" as the custom color.  So using Red won't trigger it...you need to use yellow or white to trigger it or switch the custom color to red.

Ok. That is the relevance "Custom". Thank you.  I really need to read the user manual to understand some of these nuances.
