Conversion For LOR S5 Sequences
« on: November 06, 2018, 06:58:40 AM »
I know its a bit early to start thinking about next year but that is where I am at. Had a pretty good year sequencing in both Xlights and S5. In XLights I exported to S5 clipboards and will run my show with LOR this year. Next year might make the switch to XLights but don't want to lose my S5 sequences. Just wondering if you all have looked at an import for S5 sequences yet? I know everyone is probably busy with there shows right now but if you all are interested I would love to test something when you get to that point. Thanks!

You can already import S5 but most effects need to be adjusted because the settings in LOR don't match xLights.   So you will get the effects with the correct duration but will need to click on every effect and adjust it to how you want it.

Doug, it is about time you saw the x"light".  We've only been working on you for several years.  LOL

Jim, will be real important to be able to bring in my S5 sequences.

Gil, S5 files are .loredit files. Not currently an option for importing. I renamed one to .LMS and still didnt import in.  How would I import in the file?

Maybe you're importing wrong.  Are you choosing "Import -> Import Effects"?  If you're trying to use the Convert dialog that is only for supporting outdated functions.

Well I was doing it wrong. I just tried using the import effects tab. I dont have an option to select a .LOREDIT file which replaced the .LMS in S5. I did try and rename a .LOREDIT file to .LMS. I got an error "No models to import from. Source sequence had no data.

Well I wasn't specific enough.  We support importing Pixel Editor files which can be created with LOR S5.  They end with *.lpe.  I doubt anyone will develop a .loredit file importer.

Here is a simple sequence in case anyone gets bored, which I highly doubt this time of the year. Looks like standard xml stuff but I am not any kind of programmer.

Now that it is a new year, thought I would try and bring this up again. I love what XLights did this past year, cant imagine where it will take us in 2019.

I would love to bring my S5 sequences into XLights. Just wondering if you couldn't reverse engineer the clipboard export you did for S5. The XML files look quite similar between the .loredit file and the clipboard file you export now for S5.

Cant blame a guy for trying, the above post has a .loredit file and a screen shot of what the sequence looks like.

Thanks for all you guys do.

I thought Scott changed it to import s5 files by assuming they are the same internal format as lpe files. I haven’t seen one so I don’t know if it is or isn’t the same.

I'll do it for $5,000.

I like XLights, but that is a bit out of my budget for this year, need to many P10 panels.  :)

Why send me the loredit file. Try it. If it works it works. If it doesn’t then it probably won’t get added soon.
