Do You Need Help? Post it here / Sequence Highlight not working
« on: December 19, 2021, 11:20:56 AM »
I'm unable to click in the sequencer area and drag to highlight multiple sequences. In the past I've been able to close xlights and re-open then all is well, but this time its not. Is there a feature or hotkey I'm missing?

Thank you Prof - exactly what I needed.

Is there a shortcut key to zoom in and out of the sequence window? When I don't have a mouse with a wheel it would be handy to be able to quickly go in and out.

Final verdict was a step down with a higher amperage rating resolved the issue.

Following up on this, while the power supply was well within the 40 amp limit, I had a step down that was only capable of 3 amps. (wonder why it got so hot  :o )I've ordered some beefier step downs to hopefully combat this, but I'm not out of the woods yet. Adding this update so anyone who reviews it in the future keeps in mind everything between the power supply and the lights.

Thanks Keith~
I have a step down converter in front and when I adjusted the voltage up a little to compensate, it would never go above 4.1 no matter how much I cranked it. As soon as I unplugged the lights it would show a 6.5v. If I take that model off and bring it into the garage and test it with a separate power supply and simple controller all is well and performs as expected.

When I take the ground wire off the power injection, the voltage remains steady, but the lights don't get any brighter. Am I correct in having the grounds tied together on the model, just not the V+?

Thank you for this - I have been struggling with this too! :D

I'm working on a model and as soon as I plug in the power injection I get a voltage drop on the line. This is without the model getting any clock signal aka "not on". should I be getting drop without the model being used? It drops from 5.3 V to around 4.1 which i thought was odd.

Then, the panels that are not on the primary string are quite a bit dimmer than the rest, which I guess is expected because they've got lower voltage to start.

Anyone have any troubleshooting recommendations?

Main Power     (bright)|   |(Dim)        Power Injected
V+ ---------------------|   |----------------------------------
Data ---------------------------------------------------------
V- ------------------------------------------------------------

Another day, another bug to work out. While playing sequences (2 different ones so far) 3/4 of my models lock up on whatever frame they were on at that moment. The only way to get them back is to physically unplug the power to them.

I have a Falcon F16v3 powered by an HP 1200W (100 amp) power supply. I did the amperage calculation and the total amperage comes out to 40 amps. (well within)

I was thinking it was power draw, but it *should* be enough power. I turned almost everything down to 10% brightness. The fun part is when they lock up, even if I stop sending data from xlights and reboot the falcon controller from the web interface (it drops ping packets so its definitely rebooting) they stay locked up. The only models that don't lock up are on an remote board via CAT5 from the serial port on the board. There is power running directly to the remote board.

Thanks in advance.

Great Feedback. Now let's say hypothetically speaking, one of those "strands" has 1 extra pixel. how do i account for that?

1 have 1 strand with 290 nodes. Each 29 needs to go a different direction. (tree strung up/down/up/down/up/down/etc) but I need them all to go up. I knew how to do this on the Falcon F16v3, but i'm using xlights to control everything now so just looking for a tip on this.
Thanks in advance!

I figured it out. My channel numbers were off. Fixed those and model performs as expected.

13
When I run via xLights both during the sequence and while using the "test" feature. Its like the universe channels aren't lining up with what the Falcon F16v3 has.

14
I'm running it with 0 issues.

I have 2 x 4 Layer circles connected together via a single channel on a Falcon F16v3. there are 8 Virtual strings, each one with slightly different bulb counts as they get closer to the center of the circle. They have separate universes as well. When i test the lights via the built in test in the falcon controller, each layer of the circle works perfect. When I run them via xlights, the first one is fine, but the second chained circle has problems with the layers. I've verified that they are assigned the correct universe. 2nd circle does in fact have a few more lights than the other and spans 2 universes. When I test in xlights, the 2nd layer will be missing a chunk and include lights from the 1st layer. I looked at the bulb layout in xlight and its correct.

Hoping someone would be able to provide some insight.
